JUST A LITTLE
WHO WE ARE
TGNM is dedicated to providing experiences in music and theater for all ages, both on stage and off. Our continued success is due in no small part to all the unsung heroes and heroines backstage, too many to name, who work like mad and rarely, if ever, receive applause, but keep coming back for more! Our very talented local singers, dancers, and actors from six to sixty and beyond are simply amazing and also too numerous to name. We extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of the truly special individuals who have contributed to one of our productions or theater camps.
A BIT OF HISTORY
In 2005 Ann Marie Elder had the idea to direct a musical, the first musical to be performed in Silver City since at least 2001. With the help of Ward Rudick (concert vocalist and pianist, and long-time resident of Silver) and Larry McLellan (just retired from a career in theater to Silver) and Brandie Thornburg, Ann Marie pulled off a production of Evita. After seeing the enthusiastic reception for musical theater, Larry and Ann Marie decided to form a non-profit community theater group, and along with George Smith, Ward, Buck Burns, Linda Shay, Cheryl Ward, Brandie Thornberg, Happy Thornberg, and Keith S. Walden, Theater Group New Mexico was born. As the composition of the board has changed over the years, Theatre Group has remained strong, a tribute to the vision of those founding members.
TGNM has expanded substantially from its beginnings. Our seasons now include a Fall production, a yearly Christmas show, a Spring production (usually a musical) and a summer theater camp for children ages 6-18. We have galleries for our past productions where you’ll see photos from some of the great shows TGNM has produced over the past six years with the generous help of our partner, the Expressive Arts Department of Western New Mexico University. You’ll recognize: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Fiddler on the Roof; The Best Christmas Pageant Ever; Oklahoma; Little Shop of Horrors; Annie; Picasso at the Lapine Agile; Aladdin, Jr.; Alice In Wonderland, Jr.; and LUEY (Let Us Entertain You) and YES! (Young Entertainers on Stage), our summer theater camps. Check back soon!

Please accept our thanks for your support of the arts in your community and in Grant County.
